Health and Safety Bulletin – April 2025
April is Stress Awareness Month
The HSE are focusing on stress in April 2025. The focus is on preventing stress and supporting mental health at work. There are three main reasons employers should look to prevent work-related stress and support good mental health; it’s the law, it’s good for business and it’s the right thing to do.
To succeed in this, the HSE have a simple 5 step process to follow
1.Reach out and have conversations
2.Recognise the signs and causes of stress
3.Respond to any risks identified by agreeing action points
4.Reflect on the actions taken – have things improved?
5.Make it Routine to check back in on how things are going
The HSE are inviting employers and managers to complete the 5 steps of Working Minds over the course of the month.
Free training is available on HSE Workplace Stress
Further free resources are available on Working Minds – Work Right to keep Britain safe
Other actions include
1.Checking your stress risk assessment is up to date and reflective of your company practices
2.Looking into mental health first aider / awareness courses for managers where applicable to your company.
